Crazy Kitchen Rehab

Taking roughly 5 years, this kitchen rehab involved a variety of disciplines, all chronicled on this site.

How it started

Although the 20 year old kitchen was looking dated, we had no compelling reason to change it out.  We had just upgraded to an induction cooktop when the oven died in 2008.  After doing the research and carefully measuring whether we could fit a 27” Thermador in the old 27” full height cabinet with some fancy cutting of the face-frames, we bought the new oven.  It fit so perfectly within the width of cabinet that the air whistled as the oven glided back in.  Until it hit the back.  Frustratingly, the oven was way deeper than the stock cabinets and no amount of cutting out the back was going to work.  That’s when the planning began.
