Sleeper Jig
Home Up

Here's the 12" block of wood (already numbered by its position on the floor and marked where the laser hits it) mounted in the "jig".  The jib itself is just a couple of pieces of scrap screwed to to top of the crosscut tablesaw sled.  Because the jig itself was cut by the blade first, it is obvious where the blade will go through the sleeper when it is held in place.

And the "after" picture shows the result.  In this manner, I could cut (on an arbitrary taper) something like eight marked sleepers in two minutes!
